Meet the Team

  • Katie McCurter MA, LPC

    Licensed Professional Counselor

I enjoy connecting with clients via telehealth, particularly when meeting from the comfort of their own environments. In my experience, people often feel more at ease and able to open up. My therapeutic goals begin with reducing psychological and emotional pain and increasing self-efficacy and overall happiness. Whether the source of pain is past trauma, worry about the future, or stresses in current jobs or relationships, I am here to help and support your journey.

I often see clients whose trauma began with primary attachment figures, surviving domestic abuse in the forms of emotional, psychological, physical, sexual, and/or financial abuse. Abuse in close relationships or families can create pervasive and persistent psych-ache and may be passed down from generation to generation. These patterns impact patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating. My work centers on helping clients locate the source of psych-ache and discontinue the pattern of suffering. I utilize tools from several treatment modalities, tailored to each client's unique needs and preferences, to help people safely process past trauma and develop practical plans to move forward on healthier paths.

The most important part of therapy is feeling safe, welcome, and comfortable; I aim to create an open, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space for each client on a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. I would be honored to support you on your road to healing and growth.

I get how tough it can be to juggle all the roles that matter to us and the ones life throws at us – especially during life transitions and times of distress.

When mental health feels unwell, we can feel it in many ways - tension in relationships, inability to rest, less confidence, work stress, and so many more. Life is challenging and any number of things can impact us. My goal is to provide space where you can slow down and sort through what's been weighing on you. I believe growth and healing happen when we feel safe enough to be vulnerable.

Expect to be met with warmth and humor in a judgement free space while we work to explore thoughts, emotions, and patterns that may be keeping you stuck. During my time as a therapist, I have developed a passion for working youth adults and women navigating the journey through college, relationships, and family. My approach is down to earth and compassion focused. I often use evidenced based and creative techniques, such as person centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths-based therapy, and solution-focused therapy. We're a team and each session will begin focusing on what you want to get out of therapy.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if this is your first time reaching out for support. Counseling is a space to better understand yourself, make sense of what you've been carrying, and learn new ways of navigating life's challenges. If you feel like we’re a good fit, I encourage you to reach out through email or request an appointment time through our website.
